Anxiety and stress can play out in a persons life to varying degrees and can impact an individual in many different ways. Some of us only experience the more common feeling of stress when we are overworked, or under unfamiliar pressure. However, many other people suffer from debilitating stress and anxiety, where they are unable to control their thoughts, which can lead to over thinking certain things or everything, predicting worst case scenarios, or having irrational thoughts, which can result in overwhelming fear and worry.

Some of the signs, symptoms and effects of stress and anxiety include insomnia and sleeping issues, damaged or strained relationships, isolation, frustration and anger, physical symptoms such as sweating, trembling, rapid breathing and heart rate, tense muscles, frequent colds, headaches, increased blood pressure or even more complicated heart problems, nervousness and difficulty coping with social situations, low energy and motivation, loss of sexual desire, inability to concentrate. Suffering from stress and anxiety can cause us to develop self doubt, low self esteem and a loss of confidence. As well as the experience of stressful episodes and anxious periods, it’s not uncommon to develop a constant state of fear and heightened awareness that can impact every aspect of our life.

At work I was stressed and it was becoming something that was eating away at me. I was angry, on edge, and it was affecting my family as well as my job.
